What Happened?
I don’t know what happened today…I got up at 9.30 so I could be functioning by 11.30 when my Mommy picked me up to go the rheumatologist. He was running 40 minutes late (I hate that! Do doctors really think that their time is SO much more important than ours?) I said to Mommy, prior to going in, that I had no idea why we were actually there.
So, finally, we were granted an audience.
He said: So, what’s been going on since I last saw you? Quick medication and treatment update.
He said: Well, I see my job as ensuring that we haven’t missed anything and we’ve tested you for everything so we haven’t missed anything. You should keep doing exactly what you’re doing. I know of sufferers who have started off as badly as you but, within 5 years, have their pain and fatigue under control enough to return to work part-time. So, I don’t think I need to see you again unless something drastic happens.
Like I said earlier, no idea why I was there.
Then, Mommy had a nail appointment so I went for a walk – for about an hour…uh-oh, too long!
When I returned to the salon, I crawled into the pedicure massage chair, while I waited. The Mommy dropped me at home for a rest.
Now it’s 9pm and I’m exhausted; and I didn’t really do anything (except for the walk) but I’m ready to take my night meds and go to bed. So, what exactly happened today?

What happened today? The Dr earned more money off your appointment and you are in pain and exhausted!!!!xx
Typical day for fibro:( So sorry, …..my was butt too, thinking of dragging my ass to a 24 hour grocery store that is not around the corner while the kids sleep, when my husband gets back from hanging with his friends, (any time now would be great) so I can buy Jicama because I hear it might help my freaking flare up!! No point calling my doctor!!! I will get exactly what you got!!!!!!
Sounds familiar…I had been seeing a rheumatologist for osteo, seronegative RA, and fibro for a few months and we never talked about my fibro. I finally asked him if he treated fibromyalgia. He said he HAD been treating me for that. Funny…all he has ever done is blood work and refill my meds. It would be nice if the doctors would spend time talking to you.
Sounds like my last visit to my rheumotologist. I recently got a CPAP machine and he said we’d let the machine work for six months and see how I felt then. Hello!!! I am having rrouble sleeping for the machine to work at all and since he hasn’t even given me a single med or suggestion on how to deal with the pain, sleeping so the machine to work is an issue. Since then I ended up at the hospital in major pain. Dr. told me to see my rheumotologist in a week to follow up only when I called for an appointment I couldn’t get in for two months even after I repeated that the ER doc told me to see the specialist in a week. So back to my family doctor I go where he seems to get it a lot more than the specialist. Dr. appointment with family doc on thursday so keeping my fingers crossed. Keep fighting.
It was a shocking day in Melbourne Simmy. After a stupid morning at Dandenong court, I ate lots of cake and went to bed for the restof the day. And I do not have fibromyalgia. So, go easy on yourself. You did more than I did. To walk in that weather was very courageous.
Been there. I’m so exhausted by the end of the day I can hardly lift the fort to eat something.
So kind of your doctor to tell you “this is all I can do for you” and not ask if there is something he could do for you. Seriously.
Song that pops into my head: “Bang Your Head” love Ac/Dc.
“What happened today?” That’s what I’ve been saying about most of my days lately. I have no idea where the hours disappear to!
